How to recognize fake job interviews

Eight ways to recognize fake job interviews

Unemployment in Nigeria today has been a major problem that we are facing, due to this issue, so many innocent youth has been exploited, cheated to the extent of being kidnapped.

Before I graduated from the university, one of my major concerns has always been how I am going to survive after school, I always take a deep breath any time I remember that there won’t be monthly allowance from my parent again. I got so worried, I searched for every means to solve my problem. At that particular point, I was so desperate that at every job opportunity that comes my way, I tend to apply. By doing this, I supply my contacts to the supposed employers. Not even minding the fact that most of these  companies are fake. I was too desperate to know the consequences of my actions then; all I want was to get a job!

Hmmm…fast forward, after my youth service year, I began to honor some of the interview invites, I could remember how happy I was when I got my first one. I never even bothered to find out if the interview was genuine or fake. All that was on my mind was that I have an interview to attend.
In a properly ironed cloth, I dressed up and I was looking so good to the interview venue, when I got there, I saw so many other job seekers and at this point I was somehow discouraged because I realized how competitive this was going to be. But as a fighter which I was(I don’t give up easily). I adjusted my tie again and said to myself. Even if they are accepting just 5 people, I will definitely be employed.

Now it was time for interview, what first go me confused was when we were arranged in a single large  hall and told that we will all be attended to at  once, i became so furious...I was like “Which kind interview be dis”.
It was not until about an hour into the interview that I realized that it was actually a seminar, I became so furious but I had to keep calm and just observe. Imagine this people invited us for a job interview and they are asking for fee to register with them so that we can have a chance of being employed. They still went ahead to tell us to purchase a book on their company. It was a really bad day for me as I had no option but to leave the venue and go back home to my parents in shame.

My mom encouraged me and told me I should not give up, I yielded to her advice and continue for my job search. Before I was able to land my first job ever, I came about several of these companies I told you about. It was always discouraging as it turns out not just to be a waste of time, but a waste of money I use in going to the venue of this supposed interviews.
Today guys, I will share some of the patterns, techniques and antiques used by these cunning fake recruitment companies to deceived and exploited the people.

1. No company name: The first thing you will notice when you get messages from these scammers is that they will never include the company name in their messages. This is the first red flag! take note.
2. The message will say “interview/job briefing”: They will never go straight to the point.
3. You will see HR admin in their message instead of seeing the name of the company that want to recruit you directly
4. Before you go for the job interview, make sure to always search the companies name, when you don’t see them or you read bad comments about them then you should know what to do!
5. They always request for money before theyt can employ you!
6. They invite you for interview a day after the interview notification is sent: Do you know why they do this? So that you will not have the time to research about them.
7. They ask applicants to call certain numbers
8. They will always send you job interviews with reference numbers

This is just some of the methods these people use to attract the unsuspecting public, It reoccurs every time and people fall for it daily.

One important thing to also take note is to do your best to ignore all these people that go about sharing leaflets on job employment. Another tactic they use is to write on walls with chalks to announce their supposed employment opportunity. If you have any other method you have noticed, you can please drop it in the comment box. Thanks
